Eugene, OR – According to the statement, the UO has received $4.52 million that will help tackle issues of racial and climate justice. The students think that this is a step in the right direction, after the multiple issues that have sparked across the Pacific Northwest.
It’s called the Pacific Northwest Just Futures Institute for Racial and Climate Justice and will be housed at the Center for Environmental Futures.
According to the statement, this grant will came from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Students and faculty can expect to see an expansion in research surrounding the climate crisis and social injustices, greater dialogues and increased access to higher education for historically underrepresented communities, first-generation college students. This will take place through a postdoctoral scholars program.
